About
Hi, my name is Sam and I am the founder of Shared Vision Fitness (SVF). I have 8 years experience of coaching others exercise, but my own fitness journey started in 2000 when I started exercising to help lose weight and got hooked.
In 2013 I decided that I wanted to combine my love of sport with my intrinsic desire to help people and so set off on the journey to becoming a Personal Trainer. Since 2013 I have volunteered to coach athletics at my local athletic club and completed a level 3 BACP counselling skills course, both of which I feel have greatly enhanced my teaching and listening skills.
2019 was a big year for me as I graduated from The Open University with a Foundation Degree in Sport and Fitness Coaching. In the same year I also completed a Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral. The latter course giving me vital knowledge and understanding of conditions such as obesity, type 1 and 2 diabetes and hypertension, and how these conditions and their respective medications relate to exercise prescription.
I have 14 years of customer facing experience for two of the UK’s biggest companies which has fostered a strong customer-focused ethic in everything I do professionally. I have a keen interest in mental health issues and I have previously volunteered my time in a support group for people living with depression and anxiety.
I formed SVF primarily as I believe that I can use my knowledge and experience to make a difference to peoples lives. I set out to design a business that prioritises the long-term needs of my clients. Not just by the way of a pay monthly pricing structure that rewards commitment, but also through an educational and personable approach to my personal training that encourages mutual trust.
